POLICY OVER CULTURE
The Netherlands Under Reconstruction highlights the rapid and drastic changes in our country. From landscape and energy policy to digitalization and the influence of large systems on daily life. These are processes that are often presented as progress, but also raise major questions about freedom, autonomy, and our cultural identity. What will remain of the Netherlands we know?
What happens when decisions that seem distant become increasingly tangible in our own backyards? And how do citizens, farmers, experts, and local communities experience these shifts that directly impact their living environment, traditions, and way of life?
The series explores these tensions via personal stories, in-depth conversations, and current situations that are felt in many places. In collaboration with investigative journalist Elze van Hamelen, we provide solid journalistic work to understand what is changing and what that means. The approach is critical and analytical, with an eye for possible solutions.
The project is currently in the preparatory writing phase. We are speaking with stakeholders, gathering stories, and developing the first episodes, with a sharp focus on the impact of large-scale changes in the Dutch landscape.
