Inspiration and the Search for Truth

I am Monique Fuchs: filmmaker, mainly in the role of producer and interviewer. But above all, I see myself as someone who is always searching for inspiring stories, alternative perspectives, things that deserve attention, and truth. The truth about people, about situations, about the world around us. For me, film is the medium to show things that move us, make us think, and also connect us.

A Lifelong Curiosity

From an early age I have been curious. I don’t just want to know how something works, but above all why. What drives people? What lies behind their choices, their fears, their dreams? That is what I, as a filmmaker, seek: to uncover the layer that often remains unseen, to bring it to light and share it with the world. This curiosity is in everything I do. Even in everyday conversations, I often hear: “You ask so many questions.” Just ask my children ;). Well, it seems to be in my DNA.

Connection Opens Hearts

Connection is essential to me — both in private life and in filmmaking. During interviews, I always try to create a safe atmosphere in which people feel comfortable. This often encourages them to be open and to truly show themselves, sometimes forgetting that the camera is rolling. That is how the purest and most honest stories emerge, straight from the heart — and that is the most beautiful reward you can receive as an interviewer.

A Life Through the Lens
From a young age, I have been fascinated by the world around me. How does everything really work? And how can we make it better? This curiosity has guided my path as a filmmaker from the very beginning, always searching for stories that deserve to be told.

Growing as a Filmmaker
Over the past 15 years, I have worked as a producer, director, cinematographer, and editor — both as a freelancer and as an independent entrepreneur under the name DocuMedia. Through this experience, I discovered how powerful film can be: it can spark conversations, shift perspectives, and inspire change. I also spent several years as a film teacher, an experience that brought me great joy and new insights — both as a filmmaker and as a person. Sharing knowledge and guiding young creative minds kept me curious and learning every day.

A New Beginning for DocuFilm
I founded DocuFilm in 2006, during my studies — driven by idealism and the belief that stories can change the world. Back then, the ideas and vision were already there, but they could only sporadically come to life in films. Yet the dream remained. Since 2025, I have decided to fully focus on DocuFilm, bringing new experience, energy, and a clear vision.

Looking Ahead
I am grateful that I can work with remarkable colleagues and partners, with passion and joy, to create films that help us see the world in a new way — and encourage us to live differently. We tell stories with depth, honesty, and the courage to ask questions. And I know I am not the only one who feels this: the time for change has come — and so have we.

I am Robbert Clignett (1996). In 2023, I graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy, specialising in editing. From a young age, I have been making films, and in editing I discovered my greatest passion. Over time, my interest in documentaries grew. In recent years, with so much change happening in the world, the relevance and motivation to tell stories through film has only increased.

Rising Above Polarisation

I am curious about the world around me. In my view, many systems no longer work, and we need to search for new ways of working and living together. At present, we live in a society marked by deep polarisation. Everyone believes they hold the truth, and there is little space left for dialogue. With film, I hope to bridge that divide, even just a little. I look at society with a critical eye, and I want to inspire people to believe that things can be different — that we can truly live and work together in peace and connection.

Creating Connection

In my work, I like to highlight the contrast between how our society functions today and what a more beautiful and, above all, humane alternative could be. In my view, it is important to understand how the systems in our current society operate. Only then can we truly recognise the relevance of building a new society and search more purposefully for fresh ideas and forms.
